Sprite Maker

Anyone know a free sprite maker that is compatable with Windows Vista?

Update: I've found a program, though I honestly think there are other ones better. Keep on getting suggestions, please.

I've searched it and all I find are:

1. Ones that aren't free.
2. Ones that aren't compatable with Windows Vista.
3. Ones that do not work.

Mabe there isn't 1.

I honestly think there is. There are some free ones, it's just that they won't execute when I try to use them.

Yep, it works like a charm. For those of you wondering, it is called paint.net

Don't know if it will work in a game, but it can help you design and plan some sprites.

Well, I've tried Paint, but it doesn't have a grid layout (which makes sprite making much easier). And thanks for pointing out the correct URL, The Internet.

Last time I've tried Gimp on this computer it said there was a fatal error. But I'll try the Gimp you recommended.
